The history of R&D at Technomar stems from its highly qualified team, with over 20% holding master’s and doctoral degrees. With a USP DNA, Technomar continues to develop innovative solutions through self-funding and/or funding from agencies such as FAPESP, CNPq, and FINEP, which have enabled the development of various projects, notably the TMS simulator and the Technomar Traffic Service monitoring system. In the case of the TMS (Technomar Maritime Simulator), it was developed in-house, becoming the first national simulator to receive DNV Class A certification, demonstrating Technomar’s competence. In recent projects, Technomar has developed and implemented a structural digital twin model of an oil platform, funded by ANP. In the renewable energy sector, Technomar has actively participated in projects in conjunction with USP, such as optimizing the hulls of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines (FOWT) and capturing and storing CO2 in salt caverns.
Currently, Technomar is developing a route optimizer for maritime transportation aimed at reducing emissions of polluting gases, with financial support from FINEP.
Technomar also maintains partnerships with renowned universities, such as the University of São Paulo (USP) and the University of Tokyo, to conduct joint research and exchange knowledge.

Conceptual Projects
By using parametric models, such as those created in EdTools, Technomar engineers can develop new concepts for vessels, oil rigs and floating wind-turbines, as well as related technologies towards reducing pollution emissions and aiding the production of clean energy.
-
New Technologies and the Environment
Technomar works directly with innovating projects, such as the installation of floating wind turbines, anchored to the sea bed by means of a series of cables and moorings, allowing for the generation of clean energy in deep oceans.
One of the challenges of this project is to ensure that these structures are capable of standing up to adverse ocean conditions, intense waves, winds and strong currents.
-
Partnerships
In order to continue evolving on the innovation front, Technomar has partnerships with both Brazilian and International Universities and other benchmark companies in the R&D/Engineering area.
Through these collaborations, the company is capable of developing solutions for new concepts, digital twins and new floating units with applications in fluvial and offshore operations.
-
Digital Twins
Given Technomar’s analytical capacity, the company has participated in the construction of virtual FPSO models (Floating Production Storage and Offloading units), offloading vessels and other oil and gas exploration support vessels.
These digital twins are being used in a range of applications in engineering, including the planning of Oil and Gas production operations, forecasting of structural faults and risk management of simultaneous operations. They can be used to simulate the coupled behavior of various systems, foreseeing any faults and optimizing performance.
